Les Boréades de Montréal
- Founded by Francis Colpron in 1991, Les Boréades de Montréal
focuses on early music. The ensemble has chosen an interpretative approach in
keeping with the spirit of the Baroque era, by adhering to the rules of performance
practice of the past and playing on period instruments. Les Boréades create,
produce, and present concerts, and record on the Atma label.
Bradyworks
- Bradyworks was originally created in 1989 in order to perform the
music of Tim Brady, whose work as a composer combines elements of contemporary
chamber music, jazz, rock and electroacoustic music. Since 1997 the group has
expanded its repertoire to include works by other composers which partake of a
similar artistic vision, often with a focus on electroacoustic elements such as
tape and live electronics.

- The Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) is an international
research centre and museum founded by Phyllis Lambert in 1979 on the conviction
that architecture is a public concern. Based on its extensive Collection,
exhibitions, programs, and research opportunities, the CCA is a leading voice in
advancing knowledge, promoting public understanding, and widening thought and
debate on architecture, its history, theory, practice, and role in society
today.

- Founded in Montréal in 1989 the label empreintes DIGITALes focuses

Ensemble contemporain de
Montréal+
- Since it was founded in 1987 by artistic director Véronique
Lacroix, ECM+ has premiered more than 200 works, most by Canadian composers. ECM+
produces innovative multidisciplinary concerts, presents other ensembles and guest
soloists, and opens up new horizons for musical creativity.

Appassionata
- Founded in 2000 in Montréal by Daniel Myssyk and Françoise Henri,
this chamber orchestra, which is rooted in the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension
neighbourhoods, comprises 15 string instrumentalists, to which is added on occasion
winds and percussions. With an ever present wish to bring classical music to the
widest public possible, along with contributing to the wellbeing of society, the
Ensemble currently offers annually a concert series with a diversified program
choice, with an extra focus on school aged children and cultural communities.

- Ensemble Kore is an group devoted to the presentation of visionary
music through unconventional concert structures.

Université de Montréal
- Depuis sa fondation en 1950, la Faculté de musique de l’Université
de Montréal n’a cessé de se développer pour s’ajuster aux exigences d’un monde
musical en perpétuelle évolution. Elle accueille aujourd’hui près de 750 étudiants
dans des programmes variés en interprétation, composition et musicologie. La
Faculté de musique est non seulement un haut lieu de formation mais aussi un des
moteurs de l’activité musicale québécoise par la qualité des musiciens qu’elle
forme, l’originalité des événements qu’elle produit et l’audace de ses découvertes.
La Faculté de musique de l’Université de Montréal présente quelque 600 activités
publiques (concerts, conférences, cours de maître) chaque saison.
Les Filles
électriques
- Founded in 2001, Les Filles électriques is an organization whose
mission is to create, distribute and archive interdisciplinary artworks and events
in oral, written and electronic literature. Our principal activity is the Festival
Voix d’Amériques (FVA), an eight days of engaged and effervescent experimentation
that takes place every February in Montréal. It is now the most important spoken
word festival in Canada.
Groupe Le Vivier
- Formé de l’association d’une vingtaine d’ensembles et d’organismes
musicaux et issu de la volonté du milieu, Le Vivier a pour mission de favoriser le
développement des musiques nouvelles et d’offrir à tous, par la diffusion d’œuvres
de qualité, une porte ouverte sur la culture.
Les Idées heureuses
- Since 1987, Les Idées heureuses has carved out a particular niche
on the Québec music scene. From Ms Soly’s concern for expanding her audiences’
knowledge about the music came her idea of preceding concert pieces with
explanatory presentations, a practice that has earned accolades from both music
lovers and the public alike.
Innovations en concert
- Founded in 1994, Innovations en concert’s focus is on chamber
music and on performances by soloists and small ensembles, emphasizing a very
personal musical contact between the artist and the public. It has presented a
regular series of concerts in Montréal since the fall of 1995. The organisation has
a very broad artistic mandate and it regularly presents concerts of contemporary
music, musique actuelle, improvised music, contemporary jazz and electroacoustic
composition. Its programming is divided between concerts which feature local and
national composers and performers, and the presentation of work by touring foreign
artists in Montréal.
Nouvel Ensemble Moderne
- The Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM), Canada’s first permanent
chamber orchestra specializing in contemporary music, was founded in 1989 by
pianist and conductor Lorraine Vaillancourt. The NEM offers convincing performances
of the music of the present, giving it the time and attention it deserves.
Pentaèdre
- The wind quintet Pentaèdre, founded in 1985, is dedicated to
discovering a varied, original and less familiar chamber music repertoire,
exploring the classical wind quintet as much as the contemporary repertoire, and
favours invited guest artists.
Productions SuperMusique
- Founded in 1979 and currently managed by musicians Joane Hétu and
Danielle Palardy Roger, PSM is a key player in premiering, producing and presenting
musique actuelle and improvised music. Besides the works of its artistic directors,
PSM presents a large number of local and international artists, in the course of
its regular programming. Beyond bringing these artists’ works to Québécois
audiences, the mission of Productions SuperMusique is to increase musique
actuelle’s profile, nationally and abroad.

- Productions Totem contemporain est voué principalement à la
création, au développement et à la diffusion des instruments inventés et
installations sonores de Jean-François Laporte.
Quasar — quatuor de
saxophones
- Ardent devotees of the music of our time, the Quasar saxophone
quartet is dedicated to premiering and promoting contemporary music that is
multi-dimensionally conceived. Celebrated for its energy, audacity and exceptional
technical ability, Quasar explores different aspects of artistic creation from
instrumental music to live electronics, from improvisation to instrumental theatre.
Quasar received two Opus prizes.
Quatuor Bozzini
- String quartet which explores new, contemporary, experimental and
classical music.
Quatuor Molinari
- Acclaimed by the public and the Canadian critics since its
foundation in 1997, the Molinari Quartet has given itself the mandate to perform
works from the 20th and 21st centuries repertoire for string quartet. Described by
the critics as an “essential” and “prodigious” ensemble, even “Canada’s answer to
the Kronos or Arditti Quartet,” the Molinari Quartet has established itself as one
of Canada’s leading string quartets. Since 2007-08 its members are: Olga
Ranzenhofer, violin; Frédéric Bednarz, violin; Frédéric Lambert, viola;
Pierre-Alain Bouvrette, cello.

- Acousmatic concert organization founded by Jean-François Denis,
Gilles Gobeil and Robert Normandeau in 1991 which presented 15 “Rien à voir” series
from 1997 to 2004; since, it presents the “Akousma” and “Pulsar” series. Has a new
Artistic Director since April, 2008: Nicolas Bernier.

- Since it was founded in 1966, the SMCQ has assumed a mandate to
promote contemporary music from both this country and abroad. It is a mission that
has been consistently carried out with creativity and dynamism, establishing the
SMCQ over the years as a leading institution for new music in North America.
Trio Fibonacci
- Piano trio, dedicated to Canadian and international new
music.
